Is a father entitled to refuse his son's marriage to a girl of good character and religion, whom the son met online, and would the son be considered disobedient to his father if he marries her without his approval?

When marrying a girl, one should consider her religiosity and righteousness, and it is not enough to get to know her via the Internet. To ascertain her righteousness, trustworthy individuals who know her should be asked. If it becomes clear that she is religious and of good character, then there is no harm in trying to convince the father to agree to the marriage, through prayer and by interceding with virtuous people. If the father insists on refusing, then the default is to obey him and forgo marrying her, unless the young man fears harm to himself by not marrying. If the young man shows patience and obeys his father, Allah may compensate him with someone better than her.
