Has it been authentically established in the history of the Companions and the Successors, and in previous nations, that walking on water was a miraculous feat (karamah)? And is it possible for this miraculous feat to recur in the nation of Muhammad (peace be upon him)?

The miracles (karamat) of the Awliya (saints), such as walking on water, are established and true occurrences. The means to true sainthood (wilaya) are faith (iman) and piety (taqwa). Such events occurred for noble Companions like Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas and Al-A'laa ibn Al-Hadrami, as well as for Tabi'un (successors) like Abu Muslim al-Khawlani. These miracles do not indicate the superiority of the one who experienced them over others, for the criterion of preference is piety.
