What is the ruling on saying "Divine power willed it" or "the hand of Divine power willed it" and similar phrases?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is incorrect to say: "Divine power willed," or "the hand of Divine power willed," or "the power of Allah willed," because willing is an act of will, and power is an attribute that does not possess will. Rather, will belongs to the one who wills. The correct expressions are: "Allah's wisdom necessitated such and such," or "this is Allah's power," meaning His decreed act. It is also impermissible to say: "Fate willed," because fate is an abstract concept that does not possess will.
