Is it permissible for a married man to wait for another married woman and pray to God to unite them in this world, and is it permissible for him to divorce his wife with whom he has not consummated the marriage, on the pretext that the marriage was imposed upon him and that she is unwilling, and that he is unable to fulfill her rights?

First: It is not permissible to force a child to marry someone they do not desire, and they are not considered disobedient if they refuse. The two Shaykhs, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Uthaymeen, have clarified this. Therefore, the son is not obliged to obey his father in marrying someone he does not desire, or in preventing his marriage to a righteous woman.

Second: You must treat your wife with kindness and give her her rights. If you are unable to do so, then release her with kindness. However, you should take your time before divorcing, for perhaps Allah may bring much good in holding onto her, as Allah Almighty says: (And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them – perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good).

Third: You must strive against yourself and cut off all contact or preoccupation with the married woman you are attached to, especially given previous transgressions. It is not advisable to wait for her, as this may waste your life and cause you to miss marriage opportunities. Furthermore, giving her a promise to wait is a form of incitement against her husband, and praying to marry her while she is married is impermissible, as it is an infringement on her husband's right.
