Is it permissible to perform the Friday prayer outside the mosque?

The correct view is that whenever the conditions for Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) are met, it can be performed anywhere within the village or close to it. There are no specific requirements for the mosque in which Jumu'ah is held. The Malikis differed, stipulating that it must be performed in a built congregational mosque.
