The ruling on a woman's travel varies according to her situation: - If she is married: She must move with her husband if he wishes to do so, and obedience to him takes precedence over obedience to her parents. - If she is not married: - She is not permitted to travel except with a mahram. - If her father supports her financially, she must obey him by remaining in her city. It is disliked for her to travel unnecessarily, especially to the Two Holy Mosques, for fear of falling short in honoring the sanctity of the place. - If her father refuses to support her or is poor and she is compelled to work, there is no harm in that, but she should seek work in her own city and not travel.

It is recommended to stay at home and withdraw from people during times of fitan (trials/tribulations), as this is one of the means of salvation.
