Is it obligatory to read the Quran daily for one who wishes to complete its recitation, or is it permissible for him to stop reading for a day or two?

It is prescribed for a Muslim to recite the Book of Allah frequently, based on His (the Almighty's) saying: "And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord," and on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Recite the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection." The Salaf (pious predecessors) were keen on reciting it and reflecting upon it. Therefore, a Muslim should not abandon reading the Quran unless doing so does not lead to its abandonment.
