It is desirable to read the Qur'an frequently, day and night, especially during Ramadan and its last ten days. There is no specific limit for daytime reading, nor is it true that daytime reading is half of nighttime reading; rather, this varies from person to person. Whoever is not among those capable of inferring rulings, or is not preoccupied with knowledge or judiciary matters, should read extensively without boredom or haste. Texts have been narrated explaining the virtue and reward of reading the Qur'an, such as: "There is no envy except in two: a man whom Allah has given the Qur'an, and he recites it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day," and "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will have a good deed, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold," and "Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection." It is disliked to delay completing the recitation of the Qur'an for more than forty days without a valid excuse. As for someone who perceives subtle meanings or is occupied with religious matters and public interests, they should read as much as does not neglect their duties. Others, however, should read as much as they possibly can.
