How can I make my marriage solely for Allah and a strengthener of my relationship with my Lord, while balancing between this world and the Hereafter?
To maximize the reward of marriage, one must purify their intention for Allah and seek His pleasure, thereby transforming the permissible into an act of worship for which the servant is rewarded, as explained by An-Nawawi. If, by marriage, one intends to obey the Sharia, preserve one's chastity, and seek righteous offspring, then it becomes a righteous deed.
To achieve this: 1. Choose a religious spouse, in compliance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "So win the one who is religious, and you will prosper." 2. Fulfill the wife's rights, treat her with kindness, and cooperate in obedience to Allah, while balancing responsibilities, for "your family has a right over you." 3. Know that fulfilling the duties towards one's wife and children and treating them kindly are acts of worship with immense rewards, and "the greatest of rewards is that which you spend on your family." 4. Know that a servant is rewarded for marital intimacy if it is within the permissible, for "in your sexual act there is charity." 5. Kindness in treating one's family is a sign of good character, and it is among the heaviest deeds placed on the scale, by which a believer can attain the rank of one who fasts and prays during the night.
