Is it permissible, in Islamic law, for a man to remain married to a wife who does not believe in some fundamental principles of the religion, such as the head covering during prayer and the invalidation of ablution (wudu') by passing wind, and who claims that the Prophet added to the Qur’an, despite her saying that she believes in the Oneness of God and in the three religions that have been distorted?

So long as the woman has embraced Islam and understood the duties of a Muslim towards the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and that what he brought is a revelation from Allah, then her statement that she believes in the three religions is considered apostasy and a departure from Islam. It is not permissible to keep her as a wife, based on the Almighty’s saying: (and do not hold on to the bonds of disbelieving women) and (And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe). Faith is not merely a verbal declaration; rather, it requires submission and surrender to the rulings of Allah and His Messenger. Any belief contrary to this contradicts faith. Therefore, belief in the three religions is of no benefit unless the Muslim firmly believes that Islam abrogates what preceded it and is dominant over them, otherwise, whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him.
