What is the ruling on refusing to marry a suitor due to his unattractiveness? And what should one do who refuses for this reason?

The most important consideration when choosing a spouse is their religiosity and character. However, it is permissible to reject a suitor due to not finding their appearance appealing, as aesthetic preference is subjective. A Muslim should realize that "Allah does not look at your appearances or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds." One should also be content with Allah's decree and destiny, for whoever is content, contentment will be granted to them, and this is one of the greatest causes of a servant's happiness in this world and the hereafter.
