When visiting graves, should one face the Qibla with the grave in front when supplicating, or face the Qibla with one's back to the deceased, and should one supplicate standing or sitting?

It is prescribed for a Muslim to offer greetings and supplications for those in the graves, and there is no specific direction that is obligatory for this. The Sunnah is to visit graves and supplicate while standing. Various forms of greetings and supplications have been reported from the Hanafis, Shafi'is, and Hanbalis, including: "Peace be upon you, O dwellers of the graves, may Allah forgive us and you. You are our predecessors, and we are following in your footsteps," or "Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of these dwellings, from among the believers and Muslims. And indeed, Allah willing, we shall join you. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you." The visitor may supplicate facing the Qibla or facing the deceased.
