Which of the Companions reviewed the Quran with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, before his death?
During the lifetime of the Prophet, peace be upon him, a large number of Companions memorized the Qur'an, among them were the Four Caliphs, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, Al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Zayd ibn Thabit, Abu Zayd, Abdullah ibn Amr, and others. An indication of their large number is that seventy of them were killed on the Day of Yamamah, and a large number of Qur'an reciters were killed at Bi'r Ma'unah. Among them were the Four Caliphs, Talhah, Sa'd, Ibn Mas'ud, Hudhayfah, Salim Mawla Abi Hudhayfah, Abu Hurayrah, Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, Amr ibn al-Aas and his son Abdullah, Mu'awiyah, Ibn al-Zubayr, Abdullah ibn al-Sa'ib, Aisha, Hafsa, and Umm Salamah from the Muhajireen. From the Ansar were Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Zayd ibn Thabit, Abu al-Darda, Majma' ibn Harithah, Anas ibn Malik, and Abu Zayd. Some of them completed their memorization after the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and some attended the final review and were part of the committee for writing the Mushaf during the era of Uthman.
