Should a poor university student be given Zakat for his entire university study period, or only for one academic semester?

If the student is poor and unable to earn a living, or is among those eligible to receive zakat from students of knowledge, then it is permissible to give him zakat. The correct view is that he should be given what suffices him for one year.
