Is it permissible to participate in a housewarming feast for a new home, accompanied by slaughtering with the intention of warding off the evil eye and envy, and ختم القرآن (reciting the entire Qur'an) in innovative ways, knowing that not participating will cause family problems?

Slaughtering an animal when building a new house is permissible if it is done out of gratitude to Allah, joy, to honor guests, or as charity for the poor. However, if it is done to ward off the evil eye or jinn, it is forbidden and an act of shirk (associating partners with Allah), because the evil eye is repelled by ruqyah and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas). Slaughtering an animal on the doorstep of a house to appease the jinn is considered shirk. Among the things that purify homes and keep devils away are: reciting Surat Al-Baqarah, increasing in supererogatory prayers, reciting the Qur'an, performing dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and avoiding evil deeds. As for attending the feast, it is obligatory unless there is something impermissible in it, and it is permissible to decline if there is something impermissible that cannot be removed.
