Does Allah's saying, "And We would not punish until We had sent a messenger," apply to those who have not heard of the Qur'an in America or Asia in our current time?
It is from Allah's immense mercy upon His servants that He does not hold anyone accountable until His command and message reach them through messengers. As for those whom the message has not reached, Allah will not punish them, as He states: (And We would not punish until We had sent a messenger). Thus, Allah does not punish anyone until after sending a messenger who guides to the truth, establishes proofs, and conveys the message.
Whoever the message has not reached, and has not heard of the Prophet, peace be upon him, their ruling is that of the Ahl al-Fatra (people of the interregnum period), and they will be tested on the Day of Judgment. However, whoever heard of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and then did not believe in him, has no excuse and is among the people of the Fire, as stated in the authentic hadith: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, no Jew or Christian hears of me, then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, but he will be among the people of the Fire."
