Does the noble prophetic saying: "There will come after me people who delay the prayer until they stifle it," apply to the case of delaying the Dhuhr congregational prayer until shortly before Asr, and making this a habit in some mosques to allow an opportunity for workers and students?

The agreed-upon Hadith states that a fard (obligatory) prayer is not to be repeated within its prescribed time. If the imams delay the prayer beyond its time, Muslims should perform the prayer at its actual time, and their prayer with the imam will be considered a supererogatory (nafl) prayer. The Hadith also indicates the permissibility of delaying a prayer beyond its initial time if there is a benefit in doing so, such as the need for people to gather. However, performing the prayer at the beginning of its time is more virtuous.
