What is the way to know Allah Almighty, His Names and Attributes, to have a good opinion of Him, to be sincere in deeds, to love obedience and faith, and to despise disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience; and is this achieved by reading books or by supplication and advice?

Knowing God through His Names and Attributes, attaching oneself to Him, having good expectations of Him, dedicating oneself sincerely to Him, and understanding His Law, are achieved through two means: reflecting upon the Holy Qur'an and acting upon it, and observing its limits. For the Qur'an guides to that which is most upright, brings out of darkness into light, and guides to a straight path. And whoever is guided by it becomes the most perfect and upright of people. Among what the Qur'an brought forth is supplication, striving in it, and persistently imploring Allah Almighty for guidance, for Allah is its possessor; He bestows it upon whom He wills and withholds it from whom He wills.
