Is it permissible to prevent non-Muslims from touching the Qur’an based on the verse: "None shall touch it save the purified"?

It is not permissible to allow a non-Muslim to touch the Qur’an or individual Qur’anic texts. However, it is permissible for them to touch a translation of the Qur’an, provided that it is not accompanied by an individual Arabic text. Scholars have differed in interpreting "None shall touch it save the purified," as some have held that the pronoun refers to the Preserved Tablet, or what is in the hands of the angels, or our copies of the Qur’an. They also differed on the meaning of "the purified," whether it refers to purity from polytheism and sins, or from ritual impurity and physical defilements.
