Is a mother sinful for refusing her son's marriage to a non-hijabi girl because she comes from a humble social background, and because the mother wishes her son's wife to be like her own daughter, knowing that the son is willing to marry her without her entering his mother's house, and the girl insists on communicating with the mother?

A difference in social status is not a sufficient reason to refuse marriage. What is considered important regarding compatibility between spouses is religion. However, this does not preclude being keen on choosing a religious woman from a suitable background. The son must obey his parents in this matter, for their insistence on refusal is neither injustice nor sin; rather, it is advice and compassion. Parents should advise their son and remind him of the necessity of obeying them, warn him of the consequences of his disobedience, direct him to attend gatherings of knowledge and remembrance, encourage him to keep good company, and supplicate for his guidance, especially during times when prayers are answered, for a parent’s supplication for his child is answered.
