Is it permissible for a mother to refuse her son's marriage to a non-Arab Muslim girl who is calling him not to participate in living with his family, and sends him money, while the mother is prepared to marry him to someone other than this girl?

The preponderant view, in our opinion, is that if a father prevents his son from marrying a specific woman, and the prevention is for a valid reason, and not merely out of whim, then it is obligatory for the son to obey him. So, if the father's refusal for his son to marry this girl is due to a deficiency in her religiosity or character, then the father is justified, and it is obligatory for the son to obey him.
