Is it advisable for a young man about to get married, who is still a student and financially dependent on his father, yet has secure housing and basic expenses, and suffers from intense sexual urges and masturbation, to propose to a religious and well-mannered girl now, or should he postpone the proposal until he secures employment? Is financial dependence on the father considered an impediment to marriage? Is it permissible to reject a religious, well-mannered, high-born, and wealthy girl if she is not sufficiently beautiful? What advice is offered to someone about to get married?

If you are able to marry and are in need of it, then initiate it and do not delay it, for your father's expenditure on you is not an impediment. Rather, it is obligatory to hasten it if you fear falling into the unlawful. Masturbation is not permissible. When choosing a wife, the primary consideration is her religiousness and character, while also taking into account other aspects that foster affection, for it has been reported that one should look at the prospective bride because it is "more likely to create affection between you." It is recommended to choose a beautiful woman because she is "more comforting to his soul, more lowering to his gaze, and more complete for his affection." Beauty is relative, and what matters is acceptance. Advice for those about to marry: fear Allah, have good intentions, learn the religious rulings and manners, and be keen to emulate the Prophet (peace be upon him) in dealing with family.
