Is spotting at the beginning of menstruation considered part of it, or when it occurs intermittently during it? Are pink discharges after menstruation considered part of it? What is the shar'i (legal) criterion for purity from menstruation in these cases, and is vaginal wetness considered a sign of purity?

Yellowish or brownish discharge at the beginning of menstruation is not considered menses unless it occurs during the period of one's accustomed cycle. At the end of menstruation, if a woman sees purity (ṭuhr) and then observes yellowish or brownish discharge, it is not considered menses unless it occurs within her accustomed period, and whatever is connected to blood from it is considered menses.

A woman recognizes purity by one of two signs: dryness (by inserting a piece of cotton that comes out clean with no trace of blood, yellowish, or brownish discharge, and white discharges do not harm), or al-qaṣṣah al-bayḍāʾ (a white discharge that women recognize as the cessation of menstruation).

If she sees purity by one of these two signs, she must hasten to perform ghusl (ritual bath). Some scholars hold that she has leeway to wait half a day or a full day to confirm purity, and it is permissible for a woman prone to waswas (obsessive whispering) to act upon this opinion if it is easier for her.
