What should a father, who forced his wife to abort a fetus older than five months and to tie her fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy, do besides repentance and remorse, after returning to his faith and commitment?

If the father's being influenced by socialist thought was merely an influence and did not reach the point of conviction in its false doctrines, then he remains a Muslim. He is then obliged to pay the expiation of a slave boy or girl, or a tenth of the fetus's blood money, to be given to its heirs other than the father. However, if his influence reached the point of full conviction in what contradicts Islam, then he would have apostatized from Islam. Upon his return to Islam, his previous deeds are forgiven. In this latter case, the father is not obliged to pay blood money or expiation. Rather, the mother is obliged to pay the blood money and expiation if she agreed to the abortion without legitimate necessity. She is obliged to pay the expiation and half the blood money in the first case if she did so without being compelled. The mother does not inherit anything from the blood money if she is obliged to pay it.
