The question

How will God's promise of Islam's spread and triumph over all religions be fulfilled? Does this depend on people returning to its tenets, or does it have a predetermined time that will come to pass regardless of people's current reality?

The answer

It is Allah Almighty's decree that the empowerment of this religion and the triumph of this Ummah are tied to certain causes, among them: adherence to the religion, and holding fast to the rope of Allah Almighty, as 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Indeed, we were the most humiliated people, and Allah honored us with this religion. If we seek honor in anything other than it, Allah عز وجل will humiliate us."

Those promised succession and empowerment are those who have applied and adhered to the teachings of the religion. The Prophet, peace be upon him, informed us that if the Ummah inclines towards the worldly life and its enemy gains dominance over it, it will not be freed unless it reviews its religion, as in the Hadith: "If you engage in 'Inah transactions, and hold onto the tails of cows, and become content with agriculture, and abandon Jihad, Allah will inflict humiliation upon you, which He will not remove until you return to your religion."

Muslims must adopt the means of honor and empowerment by obeying Allah Almighty and implementing His law, and by removing the stains of sins; so that Allah may bless them with victory and triumph over their enemy. Allah will prepare the means of empowerment for Muslims whenever He perceives sincerity in their turning to Him.
