How can one deal with a wife who argues about matters, while the husband does not wish to argue, and this leads to disagreements, even though he knows he is at fault and refuses to admit guilt until she appeases him?

A husband should treat his wife well by listening attentively and responding kindly, for the correct opinion might be hers. Just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, listened to Umm Salamah's counsel and adopted it. Dialogue between spouses increases affection, strengthens the relationship, and corrects opinions. Rejecting a wife's opinion and acting superior towards her is arrogance, for "No one who has the weight of a mustard seed of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise," and "Arrogance is refusing the truth and looking down on people." The wise husband admits his mistakes and takes the initiative to appease his wife, and she should do the same, so that married life may be stable.
