What is the ruling on breaking the fast when moving between two residences, one of which is permanent and the other temporary, and what is the ruling on a husband having intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan in the temporary residence?

As long as the distance you travel from your new workplace to your old home in Yanbu reaches 83 kilometers, which is less than the distance for qasr (shortening prayers), and you do not intend to stay for four days in Yanbu, it is permissible for you to avail yourself of the concessions of travel. Thus, you may break your fast during your travels between the two towns if you wish, and then make up for it later.

A traveler, once their journey is valid, remains under the ruling of travel unless they intend to reside permanently or enter their homeland. The homeland is the place where a person resides and does not depart from except out of necessity.

As for breaking your fast during the day after having intended to fast at night, there is a difference of opinion among scholars: - The Hanafis and Malikis hold that it is not permissible to break the fast, but if one does, there is no kaffarah (expiation) due to the doubt. - The Shafi'is and Hanbalis hold that it is permissible for a traveler to break their fast, even after having started the day fasting, because travel is an existing excuse, and there is no kaffarah due on them. They cited the hadith of Ibn Abbas and Jabir (may Allah be pleased with them). - The preponderant opinion is that there is no harm for a traveler to break their fast, even through intercourse, due to the generality of Allah’s statement: "And whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship." (2:185)
