What is the fatwa issued by Al-Azhar concerning smoking in general and hashish in particular, and what is the number or date of its document?

Smoking of all kinds, hashish, drugs, and everything related to them that is harmful and detrimental to the mind and body, is forbidden (haram). This is indicated by the words of Allah Almighty: "They ask you, what has been made lawful for them. Say, lawful for you are [all] good things" (Quran 5:4), and the words of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "There should be neither harm nor reciprocating harm." Muslim scholars have issued fatwas (religious edicts) declaring them forbidden due to their harm and impurity.
