What is the explanation of the noble Hadith: "There are three (types of people) whom Allah will not speak to on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He look at them, nor will He purify them, and they will have a painful torment." Abu Dharr said: "They have failed and lost! Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The Musbil (one who lets his garment hang below the ankles), the Mannan (one who reminds others of his favors), and the seller who disposes of his goods by taking a false oath," and what is meant by "Isbal," "Mannan," and "the seller who disposes of his goods by taking a false oath"?

The meaning of the musbil (one who lets his garment drag) is he who lowers his garment out of arrogance. This ruling applies to anything similar to the izaar (lower garment), such as the shirt and the turban, but it does not include a woman's long train for the purpose of covering. The mannān (one who reminds others of his favors) is he who gives nothing without reminding others of it, or he who reduces the measure and the scale. The one who markets his goods by false oaths is he who promotes his merchandise with wicked, false oaths. And His (Allah's) saying, "Allah will not speak to them, nor will He look at them, nor will He purify them; and for them is a painful torment," means that Allah will not speak to them with the speech of those with whom He is pleased, but rather with the speech of those with whom He is displeased. He will turn away from them, and He will not purify them from their sins, and for them is a painful torment.
