How can one reconcile the belief that believers will have whatever they wish for in Paradise with the Prophet’s (PBUH) saying: "Whoever says 'Subhanallahi Al-Adhim wa Bihamdihi' (Glory be to Allah, the Most Magnificent, and with His praise), a palm tree will be planted for him in Paradise"? And should a Muslim abandon glorifying Allah if he desires something better than a palm tree?

Allah Almighty says that the people of Paradise will have whatever they desire, and this does not negate the importance of the texts that mention specific blessings in return for specific acts of obedience. The claim that the verse "They will have whatever they desire" renders unnecessary the hadiths that encourage planting trees in Paradise by specific glorifications is incorrect for several reasons:

Firstly: A Muslim must submit to everything that Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) have informed us, because the blessings of Paradise are part of the unseen.

Secondly: Allah Almighty has wisdom in every matter, and perhaps the palm trees planted through remembrance differ from the palm trees a believer desires, and through this, the people of Paradise will have varying ranks.

Thirdly: This reward is from Allah's grace to encourage His servants to strive for the means of entering Paradise. Abandoning good deeds under the pretext of 'desire' contradicts Islamic law.

Fourthly: The verses that speak of the desires of the people of Paradise do not imply absolute inclusiveness of everything. For example, if one desires the status of the prophets, one will not attain it. Rather, what is meant is what is commensurate with the believer's status in Paradise. A believer may be diverted from desiring something for which he did not strive, and this is out of Allah's mercy so that the lives of the people of Paradise are not marred.
