If everything is from Allah, then why do we thank and love people for their good deeds and character, when they possess nothing for themselves, and how can one be obligated to love a person who did not create their good deeds with their own hands?

People, regarding the issue of belief in divine decree (Qada') and destiny (Qadar), are divided into three categories:

The first: The Jabariyyah (Determinists), who believe that the servant is compelled and has no will or volition.

The second: The Qadariyyah (Fatalists/Free-Willers), who believe that the servant is free to choose and is the creator of his own actions, and that Allah's decree and destiny do not apply to him.

The third: Ahl al-Sunnah (People of the Sunnah), who are the moderate path. They believe that the servant is both compelled and free to choose; for he believes in Allah's decree and destiny, and that Allah Almighty has created for him a will and volition by which he earns his actions and is held accountable for them.

The servant has a will and volition by which he chooses and earns his actions, and by which he deserves praise or blame, and reward or punishment. Allah is the Creator of the servant and his will, and the servant is truly the doer of his action, and for it he is rewarded and held accountable.
