Can a Muslim woman inherit from her unbelieving mother, especially since the mother bought the house after the father's death?

Scholars have differed regarding a Muslim inheriting from their non-Muslim relative. Some have prohibited it, and this is the view of the Four Imams and the majority of scholars, while others have permitted it. It is preferable for the Muslim sister to forgo the inheritance from her non-Muslim mother, as this is more cautious and absolves her from responsibility. However, if she is in dire need, there is no harm for her to take from the inheritance.

As for the division of inheritance during the lifetime of the inheritor, it is considered a gift or a bequest, and she is permitted to benefit from what her mother has given her or bequeathed to her.
