Is it permissible to sever ties with abusive relatives who cause severe psychological harm to someone who was subjected to a homosexual assault as a child? Will he be rewarded for enduring this harm? Is it permissible to supplicate against the aggressor? Can this tribulation be considered a test from Allah?

It is advisable to strive to forget the matter and seek Allah's help, without giving Satan an opening. If the relatives are kith and kin, it is not permissible to sever ties with them. Rather, one must maintain ties with them in a way that is customarily considered kinship, such as showing kindness through money, service, visiting, or greeting. Every affliction that befalls a believer is an expiation for their sins and an elevation of their ranks. It is not permissible to supplicate against the perpetrator if they were not held accountable at that time, and a Muslim should not wish for another Muslim to be punished because of them.
