What is the ruling on divorcing a wife during her period of postnatal bleeding (nifas), and does the ruling differ between a male and female newborn, when the divorce occurs in a single pronouncement?

Divorcing a wife during the postpartum period (nifas) is considered valid by the majority of scholars, whereas Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah holds the view that it is not valid. The gender of the newborn, whether male or female, does not affect the ruling on divorce. As for divorcing three times with a single utterance or with separate utterances in one sitting, the majority of scholars consider it to be three divorces. However, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and some scholars are of the opinion that it counts as a single divorce.
