Can arrogance and insistence on abuse from a pregnant wife be due to prenatal depression? And should she be forgiven in the future for the sake of the child, and how can she be secured, and what is required of her for forgiveness? And is alimony obligatory for her until birth after she expelled the husband from the home, and must the deferred dower, child support, and custody expenses be paid for one year in case of divorce?

If the wife repents and apologizes, her apology should be accepted if her sincerity becomes apparent, and one should think well of her and treat her kindly. If the wife was unjust in her complaint, she is not entitled to maintenance for the duration of the husband's imprisonment. However, if she was disobedient (nashiz), she is not entitled to maintenance unless she is pregnant, which is the more preponderant opinion, because maintenance becomes obligatory for the pregnancy. If she is divorced without stipulating the forfeiture of her right, then she is entitled to her dower and maintenance during the 'iddah, which ends upon delivery. The maintenance of the child is obligatory upon the father as long as the child is in need. If a dispute arises regarding these matters, it should be referred to the Sharia court.
