Which is the best interpretation of the the Holy Qur’an: Tafsir al-Tabari, or al-Qurtubi, or another comprehensive and all-encompassing tafsir?

The interpretation of the Quran is among the noblest of sciences. Tafsir Ibn Kathir is one of the greatest existing interpretations, and its methodology involves interpreting the Quran by the Quran, then by the Sunnah, then by the sayings of the Companions, and then by the sayings of the Tabi'in. Ahmad Shakir abridged it, enhancing it further with his commentaries and by omitting the chains of transmission (asanid).
