Is it permissible, in Islamic law, to place a small, triangular, colored bead curtain in a car for the sole purpose of decoration?
A Muslim must avoid imitating polytheists in their actions. Placing colorful beads in a car or elsewhere with the intention of warding off the evil eye and envy falls under this category. This is based on the Hadith narrated by Thabit ibn Al-Dahhak (may Allah be pleased with him), in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a man who vowed to sacrifice camels at Buwanah. The Prophet asked, "Was there any idol from the idols of Jahiliyyah worshipped there?" They said, "No." He asked, "Was there any of their festivals held there?" They said, "No." He then said, "Fulfill your vow, for there is no fulfillment of a vow in disobedience to Allah, nor in that which a human being does not possess." This Hadith blocks all pretexts and prevents imitation of polytheists.
