Is the intent of the Almighty's saying: "You will recognize the evil in the faces of those who disbelieved" specific to the disbelievers of the Prophet's time (peace be upon him) only, or does it include everyone who disbelieves in Allah and dislikes hearing the Qur'an? And how can a believer recognize the evil in the face of a disbeliever?

Ibn Jarir stated that the verse: "And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, you recognize in the faces of those who disbelieve disapproval. They are almost upon striking those who recite Our verses to them" was revealed concerning the disbelievers of Quraysh. He explained that the verse describes the emergence of hatred and aversion on their faces upon hearing the Quran, and their attempt to assault those who recite it to them. Al-Shanqiti added that it is characteristic of disbelievers in general to detest hearing the word of Allah, citing the people of Noah and the disbelievers of Quraysh who would block their ears and command frivolous talk during the recitation of the Quran. The "disapproval" recognized in their faces is the visible change resulting from their hatred for the verses of Allah.
