Is it obligatory to make up prayers after complete purification, in the case of intermittent menstruation that stops for some time then resumes, without performing ghusl during these periods of cessation?

If the questioner follows the madhhab which states that the purity interspersed within the days of menstruation is not considered [a valid state of purity], then there is no blame upon her in that, and she is not obligated to make up the prayers she missed during the period of menstrual cessation. This is the view of the Shafi'is and Hanafis, and a narration from Imam Ahmad if the period of purity is less than a day. As for the view of the Malikis and Hanbalis, which is the relied-upon opinion, it is that the interspersed purity is a valid purity that necessitates ghusl and prayer, even if for a short period, provided that the cessation of blood is complete and free from any trace of blood, yellowness (ṣufrah), or murkiness (kadrah).
