Is what has been stated regarding contemplation—that the noble verse: "And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance" (Qur’an 41:17) indicates that the worst degree of misguidance is preferring misguidance because it is a perversion of one's innate nature—true? And has this preference today acquired institutions and companies that produce programs, films, and series in order to make people prefer misguidance, defend it, and call to it?

Refusing guidance and choosing misguidance after clear understanding is not exclusive to Thamud; rather, it is a common characteristic of all those whom Allah destroyed, such as Pharaoh and his people, and the chieftains of Quraish. They denied Allah's signs even though their souls were convinced of them, out of injustice and arrogance. Similarly, preferring the worldly life over the Hereafter is a general characteristic of disbelievers who hinder people from the way of Allah. There is a difference between finding disbelief and misguidance preferable within oneself and making it appealing to people and embellishing it for them by inviting them to it. Thamud belonged to the first type, while the institutions referred to in the question belong to the second type.
