How does Allah cause the Prophet's soul to die in sleep, while his heart does not sleep, given the Prophet's saying: "Indeed, our eyes sleep, but our hearts do not sleep"?

The sacred texts indicate that sleep is a minor death, during which the soul is taken and then returned. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is included in the generality of this ruling, as evidenced by the Almighty's saying: "Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep," and by his supplications upon sleeping and waking. As for the Prophet's saying, "My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep," it is interpreted as him being aware of his own state without perceiving what is around him, because the eye is asleep, and the heart only perceives the sensations related to it. There is no contradiction between the two matters. Questioning how souls are taken is not sound, as these are matters of the unseen whose true nature is known only to Allah, and delving into them may lead to confusion and doubt.
