What is the ruling on a grandfather, who has a beautiful voice, working to recite the Qur’an at mourning gatherings for money, knowing that it is an innovation, because he is unable to work and his earnings from the Adhan are sufficient?

Reading the Qur’an at wakes and in mourning tents is an innovation (bid‘ah), and earning a livelihood through these innovative acts is a reprehensible deed (munkar) that the people of the Qur’an must abandon. They should demonstrate the sincerity of their reliance on Allah and submit to the rulings of the Qur’an in all their affairs.
