Should a single young man travel to the West to complete his higher education, knowing that he fears falling into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) and cannot currently marry to protect his chastity?

It is advisable to seek Allah's help and supplicate to Him for lawful sustenance and chastity.

Among the helpful means are: marriage for those who can afford it, fasting for those who cannot, and the reported supplications such as "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, my sight, my heart, and my semen," and "O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency."

Also helpful are good companionship, occupying time with studying, earning, and sports, and reducing foods that stimulate the instinct.

There is no harm in completing studies and seeking a better job, but the most important thing is to search for a country safe for religion and morals. If only Western countries are available, then necessary precautions must be taken to preserve one's religion, and one must be diligent in prayer and remembrance, read books of encouragement and deterrence, seek out righteous people, and stay with them.

If marriage becomes possible there, be eager for it, as it is the best protector of one's private parts and lowers the gaze.
