It is permissible to use pure tissues for istijmar (cleansing after defecation or urination), provided they are solid, pure, remove impurities, and are not revered. It is stipulated that the number of wipes must not be less than three, and it is recommended that they be odd in number. If the impurity is removed with the tissue, then the water remaining on the garment afterward is considered pure. It is preferable to combine the use of tissues with water.
