How should I act with my husband who verbally abuses me, hates me, hates my family, and accuses me of having children to tie him to me, knowing that I am successful in my work and social relationships?
The most important thing is to improve the marital relationship. Therefore, the wife should review the reasons for her husband's harshness and dislike, as it might be due to her shortcomings in fulfilling his rights. Adorning herself for him, choosing gentle words, and showing affection influence his love. The wife working outside the home without her husband's permission might also be a reason. She should be patient and frequently seek Allah's forgiveness if there is no justification for his dislike. The husband, on the other hand, should treat his wife kindly, as Allah Almighty said: "And live with them in kindness." He should also sweeten his words and deeds, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to do, for he said: "The best of you is the best to his family." He must not curse, insult, or humiliate her, and he should overlook some of her flaws in light of her other virtues, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." In the event that the wife is harmed by staying with him, she has the right to seek divorce, but it is preferable not to resort to it except when necessary.
