What should I do about my husband's mistreatment of me, where he treats me like his daughter, scolds me in front of our children, and spends a lot of time outside the home, while treating others kindly?

It is not permissible for a husband to curse or insult his wife in front of their children or others, as this is compounding evil upon evil. He must fear Allah concerning her and observe her right to respect and honor. It is the wife's right that her husband feed her when he eats and clothe her when he clothes himself. He should not strike her face, nor use foul language, nor abandon her except within the home. The phrase "nor use foul language" means he should not say anything ugly to her or insult her. Likewise, he should not prolong his stay outside his home except for a valid reason or benefit, and he must care for his family. The wife is advised to be patient and overlook her husband's shortcomings and mistakes, and to avoid contradicting him or arguing with him while he is angry.
