Is it obligatory to make up prayers that were performed with an incorrect ablution, or is it permissible to adopt the view of those who do not obligate making up missed prayers that were omitted due to laziness?

Prayer is the pillar of faith, and abandoning it carries a severe warning. Whoever preserves it will succeed, and whoever neglects it will lose. Abandoning prayer while denying its obligation is an act of disbelief (kufr) by consensus. However, for one who abandons it out of laziness, there is a difference of opinion as to whether or not they commit an act of disbelief. If someone performed an invalid ablution (wudu'), they must make up all the prayers performed with that ablution, according to the majority of scholars. Ibn Taymiyyah, however, holds that making up those prayers is not obligatory. As for making up missed prayers due to laziness, the majority view is that making them up is obligatory. Ibn Taymiyyah, on the other hand, believes that making them up is not prescribed in this case, and one should instead increase voluntary (nafl) prayers. It is permissible to adopt the easier opinion in times of hardship, but this should not become a habit.
