Is supplication created?

If du'a (supplication) is intended to mean the act of the servant, then it is created and originated. But if it is intended to mean what the supplicant mentions of Allah's names and attributes, then Allah's names and attributes are not created.

Ibn Taymiyyah explained that the dispute over whether "faith is created or uncreated" arose due to ambiguous terms, similar to what happened in the issue of the creation of the Qur'an. Imam Ahmad disapproved of those who said: "My utterance of the Qur'an is created," and those who said: "It is uncreated." Similarly, he disapproved of those who said: "Faith is created," if they meant Allah's speech and attributes. However, if they meant the actions and attributes of His servants, then these are created by consensus of the imams.

It is necessary to inquire and elaborate on these ambiguous terms to clarify their intended meaning. So, if "faith" is intended to mean something of Allah's attributes and speech, such as "La ilaha illa Allah" (there is no god but Allah), then it is uncreated. But if it is intended to mean the actions and attributes of the servants, then these are created.
