Should a woman in menstruation anoint herself for her husband?

The jurists differed on the ruling concerning a woman's use of oil (perfumed or otherwise) during her Iddah (waiting period) of mourning, holding three different opinions:

- Hanafi school: It is not permissible except for an excuse or illness, because oil is not free from a type of adornment and perfume. - Shafi'i school: They differentiate between perfumed oil, which is not permissible to use on any part of the body, and non-perfumed oil, which is permissible to use on the body but not the head. - Maliki and Hanbali schools: It is permissible to use oil as long as it does not contain perfume.

The most preponderant opinion is that of the Maliki and Hanbali schools, which permits the use of oil that does not contain perfume.
