Is it permissible for a man to apply perfume, wash with perfumed soap, and use deodorant before prayer, and does that invalidate his prayer?

It is forbidden for a woman to go out perfumed in such a way that men can smell her fragrance, for she is then considered an adulteress. As for a man, it is desirable for him to perfume himself in all circumstances, and it is particularly emphasized on Friday, Eid, and in gatherings of people. The difference between them is that a woman is commanded to stay in her home, and a man's temptation by her is more severe. A woman is sought after, not the seeker, and her modesty prevents her from such seeking. It is permissible for a woman to pray perfumed in her home, but outside the home it is not permissible; rather, she is forbidden from perfuming herself if she intends to go to the mosque. The proof for this is the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "If one of you attends the mosque, let her not touch perfume," and "Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from the mosques of Allah, but let them go out unperfumed." Everything that stirs the desire of men or the woman herself is considered akin to perfume.
